God... Are You there?
I think I
have heard the phrase a million times…maybe not that many, but very many
times. At the beginning or ending
of a gathering at church, during worship services, youth gatherings, VBS, staff
meetings, other team meetings…most often we begin and end with prayer. To gain the attention of everyone the
person praying frequently says the words…"Let's Pray together." In response to that invitation, many
folks change their position, bow their heads, move forward in their chair,
close their eyes, uncross their legs, or fold their hands to get
"ready" to pray.
Yet there
are other dynamics involved in praying that move beyond our posture preparation
and during the course of this series I want to take a look at these six
dynamics that impact our prayer life and help us all gain new understanding
about prayer. Many of us have
asked a particular question when we pray…the question comes up at times when we
have been in crisis, feeling all alone, overwhelmed or even at the end of our
rope…we say…”God, are you there?”
This series
seeks to answer that question and help all of us come to the faith level that
indeed, “God is always there.”
